While transcribing one of my brother's tapes this past weekend I came across a rather rare recording. It's Leigh Brown along with Shep on a Long John Nebel radio show. What makes this show unusual is that Shepherd appears on it with his then 25-year-old producer/assistant, Leigh Brown. Turns out she's got one heck of a "Joisey" accent. Also appearing were fellow radio veterans, Phil Tonkin and Bernie Koresh. Original air date was Saturday, July 4, 1964. Here's a restored clip.

Thanks, cgn37vet. Hopefully the clips will generate feeback (good or bad) on how they sound compared to other material. Shows on archive.org all seem to be very low bit-rate. And sites that sell tapes and CDs don't seem to offer any samples. So it's hard for me to compare.
I've been working on a restoration process and just now started to digitally master the tapes. Interesting and fun clips should emerge. Shep's live FM broadcasts sounded great when they first aired. I'd love to be able to recreate that sound again.
Happy Holidays to all.

spiderman, that show may be the very first time Leigh Brown actually speaks. The only other audio I'm aware of is a 2 minute clip on her flicklives bio page. She also had a brief silent cameo in "A Christmas Story."

(Note to Jim Clavin):
Jim, I tried without success to contact you several times via email. You mentioned that Leigh Brown audio is especially rare and asked about hosting this clip on your website. Yes, by all means. You're invited to do so.
I can't help thinking how unfortunate it is that Leigh Brown didn't survive her husband. She was probably the only person who could have written THE definitive book about Shep's life and career.
